Markholl, I saw that same news clip. Part of it said that the South Koreans have found no such tunnels yet. Is it possible that it is just propaganda to keep the South on edge?

From CNN:

North Korea is sticking by its demand that Washington end its "hostile policy"
towards Pyongyang, saying that in the present situation war may break out at
"any moment"
on the Korean Pensinsula.

We have NUKES! What are you going to do about it, eh?

From CNN:

U.S. SOURCES: N. KOREA SAYS IT HAS NUCLEAR WEAPON

Talks between the United States and North Korea have wound up in China with no
tangible results and fears of recriminations after Pyongyang admitted to
having nuclear weapons.

Blackmail eh? North Korea is either really crazy or intends to start World War III, hmmm, but wait, does North Korea have an Ally? Iraq didn't.

From Deseret News:

NORTH KOREA UPS NUCLEAR ANTE
North Korea's lead official at nuclear weapons talks in China told a U.S. envoy
that his country has nuclear weapons and may test, export or use them depending
on U.S. actions, a senior American official said Thursday.

This man is seriously crazy!!!
He is going to keep on running his mouth until China, Japan and everybody else cuts off all his oil, food and everything!
The best thing we can do right now is sit back and let him hang himself.

He's not "upping the ante", he's digging a grave. His own.

I think that N. korea is very interested to settle with the USA just for $$ reasons, that is why all this time it wanted to talk with USA only and not to China or S. Korea. North Korea is interested in the money only and is probably willing to do an exchange of nuclear bombs surrendering to the American $$.
Most likely the USA is willing to give some of this $$ to buy the N. Koreans Nuclear Program the problem will be solve, and hopefully with a promise of "never again" the N. Korean not re-starting the Nuclear Program ever again!!
The outcome is the American $$ will buy the N. Korean Nuclear Program (most likely for the time being, we cannot tell what will happen 20 years from now.)

Velsheda, seems like you are right. Now the US says it does not do deals with terrorists, let's see if they consider North korea a  terrorist.

From Deseret News:

NORTH KOREA OFFERS N-DISARMAMENT PLAN
Secretary of State Colin L. Powell said on Monday that North Korea had put
forward a plan in its meeting with U.S. and Chinese envoys last week under which
it would dismantle its nuclear programs but would "expect something considerable
in return."

I wanna a bomb!

It has been awhile since this post has been updated because N.Korea has been a bit 'quiet' (or maybe SARS and finding WMD was more important news), but now that they have openly declared that they want to make nuclear weapons they are back in the spotlight.

From CNN:

N. KOREA ADMITS NUKE PLANS

North Korea has lifted its war of words with the United States to a new level,
saying it may now need nuclear weapons to combat what it describes as the
U.S.'s hostile stance towards it.

We have to really ask if all of this is not a joke. Countries that openly say they have nukes and want war seemed to be not taken seriously, where as countries that say they do not have any WMD are attack immediately? It's like a joke isn't it?

N. KOREA 'READY FOR WAR OR TALKS'

A North Korean envoy has said his country is ready for "both war and dialogue"
as debate continues over the North's efforts to develop nuclear weapons.
