My big concern here is the involvement of Uncle Sam. We already have a substantial number of troops over there so what about Japan? What about the South Koreans? What about China? Why does the red, white and blue have to save everybody from the bad guy?

Report: N. Korea Missile Arrives at Launch Site
Source 1
They are telling people to stay out of N.Korean waters and have now staged what appears to be a ICBM. The range is thought to be 4k miles and puts Alaska within range. Yet the only demand that has come from N.Korea is the demand that the UN retract its condemnation from the previous Satellite/ICBM test (which spurred the recent launches). This appears to be a threat to the UN if they were to issue sanctions from the last nuclear test. It also could nicely time around the meeting of Obama and President Lee of S.Korea.
N.Korea needs to start telling someone what they want...maybe the Chinese, because the US and Japan are going to shoot down any missile that N.Korea launches. Without any explanation of what is on that pad, the 2 countries cannot afford not to protect themselves.

NKorea's Kim taps 26-year-old son to be successor
Source 4
Well looks like the defector was wrong and it is the youngest son and fortunate for the rest of the world he is reportedly as cruel as his father! Get ready for Kim Jong Un...the next leader of N.Korea. In reading the article, it does appear that much of this is a sort of debut for the new future leader.

OK Mr. Gates. What Now?
By Eric Margolis
If Kim Jong-il refuses to back down, Washington will be left with the nasty choice of either taking some sort of military action that is certain to prove indecisive, or lose face with its allies and foes, and listen to Kim crow. That's the awkward position Secretary Gates has put himself in. What happens when the Dear Leader calls his bluff? Ref. Source 6
My guess...
The US and Japan state that they will be force to shoot down any unannounced missile launched out of N.Korea. No one will have a issue with that requirement. N.Korea will be forced to tell the world what they are actually doing with the missile and its intent or face the ultimate humiliation of having their missile dropped out of the sky. That one is easy. It will be a big hot winded statement of some variety that does ensure what the missile is and where it is going with a lot of fluff around it. The US and Japan will be on the ready. The UN will utter its obligatory condemnation of any lauch. The launch will happen. The UN will craft a slap on the wrist and Kim Jong Un, in history, will have stood up to the world.

One military analyst said that it would be good to get a hold of the fragments of one of the North Korean missiles so that it can be tested to see how far their technology has reached.
Was the supposed nuclear bomb that went off some days ago confirmed? The last I read was it was inconclusive?
