Why do you think China does not want to stop them? |

The US is working desperately in trying to get China to use it's influence on North Korea, some are even suggesting the US may be involved in stirring things up between the two countries.
Dick Cheney's visit to China (based on European newscast) was all ceremony but the chinese were not impressed. It seems China does not trust the USA ( I wonder why) and are not clear on the US motives towards N.K
If the Americans want to start making some headway on the International scene, they are going to have to put their big guns aways and brush up on their diplomatic skills.
May I offer a suggestion, get rid of BUSH.
A move to be out of the area or in keeping with some hidden agreement?
U.S. CONFIRMS S. KOREA TROOP CUT

This has really died down from the media front. So it seems like this is just one of those barking dog incidents or is it that Iraq is just too much to handle right now to bother with North Korea?

I think that North Korea has quieted down a lot for now.
The US is talking about pulling a lot of troops out of South Korea, and maybe N. Korea is willing to be VERY quiet to facilitate that move.

Is it really the job of Europe and the US to decide who should continue in the race that others have won?
DIPLOMACY FAILS TO CURB NUCLEAR ARMS
U.S. intelligence officials and outside nuclear experts have concluded that the Bush administration's diplomatic efforts with European and Asian allies have barely slowed the nuclear weapons programs in Iran and North Korea over the past year, and that both have made significant progress.

HUGE EXPLOSION IN N. KOREA PRODUCES MUSHROOM CLOUD
A large explosion occurred in the northern part of North Korea, sending a huge mushroom cloud into the air on an important anniversary of the communist regime, a South Korean news agency reported Sunday.

The news reports I saw this morning indicate that officials in the US do not believe the explosion was a nuclear test. In fact, US officials do not believe N. Korea has yet tested a nuclear weapon. Do not know what the explosion was, but apparently not a weapon.
