
The US is trying to contain two threats: terrorism and Russia's expansion. Thus far they have not been able to contain either one. People may not like dictators like Saddam but once he was taken out by an outside force the whole Middle East started to crumble. The thing is the US needs to allow the people in sovereign nations to deal with their own problems. If the people in Syria did not like Assad then there are ways to make him step down without outside help.

I fear that Syria will not be able to survive all of these attacks from so many threats, especially with Isis lurking around the middle east as well.
