I don't know what the owner did.  My supervisor and I handled what we could internally.  But if the owner notified the authorities, I don't know.  The owner does have a brother that works for the police department, so he probably did pass the information along to him.  

I do know that my supervisor and the plant manager took her into the office to meet with the owner after I got through giving him my statement to put into this woman's employee file.  After their meeting, the plant manager and my supervisor escorted her to get her things, then to the time clock for her to clock out, and then watched her get into her truck and made sure that she left the premises.  

But you are right.  I really thought I knew her, but at least I didn't find out too late, before she did something terrible, to be proven wrong.

Actually, most of these situations would be prevented (where employees or x-employees come on the compound killing) if there is good security. Every business place should have security for a number of reasons, this could entirely be one of them. Do you have security guard(s) at work?

No they don't have any security guards at work.  For some reason, the plant manager and my supervisor are the ones that pretty much 'police' the area.  I hate to say it, but the owner is stingy with his money, so I don't think that he would spend some of his money to help keep us safer than what we already are.  But then again, after today, he may decide to do something different.

An employee on the verge of losing his job opened fire at an auto parts warehouse Wednesday, killing six co-workers before dying himself at a hospital, authorities said.

A SPOKESPERSON for the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office told The Associated Press that seven people had died.

A hospital spokesman told NBC affiliate WMAQ-TV that the gunman was among the dead. It was not clear whether he was wounded by police or had shot himself in the incident at Windy City Core Supply Inc., on Chicago's South Side.
