HEB IAITH HEB GENEDL! - (No Language, No Nation)
Our Language is the Oldest in Europe.
It has defined our National Identity and our struggle for definition as a nation distinct from England. Without it we lose every drop of sweat and blood spent in the fight for it's survival.
English law has outlawed it, diluted it and devalued it.
Now we have our own Political Assembly, it is our turn to make our rich heritage mandatory in public life.
I can't blame you for being very angry Harkon!
It's definitely the pressure from the British Government that's trying to topple the Welsh from their language and their heritage...this is so very, very wrong!
Some of my family are Welsh, from South Wales, and they are very loyal to Wales, refusing to speak any English in their home town, I think that's the way to go.
We spend a lot of time in North Wales, and I've noticed there that more and more people are only speaking their native Welsh, schools are insisting to only take on children if their parents learn to speak Welsh...good on them, that's what I say,it wouldn't be any different for anybody if they moved to say Germany, they'd still have to conform and learn German..so why should the Welsh be expected to drop all their heritage to comply with people who don't even come from their land?
I work for a civil service, some of my peers think that our Welsh service in Wales is a waste of money. We employ Welsh people to offer a service in a language people understand. We may be an Ethnic Minority in our own Country, but as we say.. TRA BO HAUL AR Y MYNNYDD...
