"Rape in the Ranks: The Enemy Within"
As with suicides, the rate of sexual assaults within the US military now exceeds that of the general population. A Pentagon report earlier this year found one in three female service members are sexually assaulted at least once during their enlistment. Sixty-three percent of nearly 3,000 cases reported last year were rapes or aggravated assaults. Rape in the Ranks: The Enemy Within is a documentary that focuses on the cases of three female service members victimized by rape and other forms of sexual assault. We air excerpts of the film and speak to filmmaker Pascale Bourgaux. Ref. Source 8
Rape In USA Millitary (Hover)
This is one of the downfalls that I feel is always going to be around those soldiers who are in combat. From suicide to rape you will have men and women soldiers to be at risk of any of these. This is a problem that the army knows about and needs to be addressed more to all troops.
Stories like this are going international and you would think a well trained military will have better control over what their soldiers do to their own:
International Level: International Guru / Political Participation: 3231 100%
I am not so convinced this is a training issue so much as a statement of moral values of the US society as a whole. I also have to ponder could it be the type of men that are being drawn to this service based on the US recruitment standards and procedures.
I am very confident that the vast majority of males recruited would never consider doing this nor have participated in such activities. I would suspect it is a select few and they are repeat offenders. Possible resentment of females being in the male word. I also would not be surprised they are thinking they could get away with it as they are off in battle or think the old boys club can protect them. Either way they are sick people and deserve to be neutered.
International Level: Senior Politician / Political Participation: 188 18.8%
Good points some of which was reported here: Source 5 about the kind of civilians being recruited, however for it to be so prevalent as 1:3 it has to be more than just a few repeat offenders... Something is tragically wrong.
