Even though I understand what this Hispanic leader is saying, what is the police supposed to do in a situation like this?

Mateo said he is acting as the spokesman for the family of Emmanuel Paulino. The 24-year-old man was killed by police in Manhattan after he allegedly called 911 early Sunday morning and said, "I'm ready to kill some cops right now." The following is a partial transcript of that 911 call obtained by The New York Times: Operator: 911 Operator, where is your emergency? Suspect: Yeah, I want you to call the cops cause I'm ready to kill. Operator: What? Suspect: I'm ready to kill some cops right now. 911 Operator: You're ready to kill some cops? Where are you? Suspect: "Yeah, 121 Vermilyea, New York. I'm right here, outside." Following the call, four officers from the 34th Precinct responded to the location in the Inwood section of upper Manhattan, where they found a distraught Paulino standing outside. Authorities said the officers told Paulino to drop the knife he was holding, but he refused. One of the officers shot Paulino with a Taser stun gun, but he yanked out the electrical prongs and allegedly charged police, at which point he was shot multiple times, The Associated Press reported… Source 5j

Hispanic white and non-Hispanic black cancer patients between ages 15 and 29 may be more likely than same-aged white patients to die of their disease, according to a new study. The finding is partially but not wholly explained by socioeconomic status, meaning that in addition to the health risks associated with low socioeconomic status or stage of presentation, there are additional health risks associated specifically with these racial/ethnic identities. Black youth are about half as likely as their white counterparts to get mental health care despite having similar rates of mental health problems, and Hispanic youth also get only half as much mental health care as whites. Types of care included visits to psychiatrists, social workers and psychologists, as well as substance abuse counseling and mental health counseling by pediatricians and other doctors.
