The US is allot mightier Iraq, but might is not always right in war. Iraq has shown us that the biggest, most well trained and well equipped military doesn't necessarily win. Iran would be fighting for their very freedom from American occupation because they see Iraq and know that the US will never leave if they invade. They will do as they did against Iraq only to a greater extent, they will sacrifice their children to kill us. It would be a bad deal. And why won't their be a diplomatic solution? And what solution are we talking about? They aren't building nukes, so what solution is needed? Make them like us? That won't happen, ever, and thats not a reason to attack them. Them hating us is not a reason to go to war. They would destroy Israel before us.
I'm a little bit surprised by all the talk of war with Iran. This report has surely ruled that out under Bush's regime and I highly doubt the Democrats, who surely must win the next US election, have any interest in going after Iran.
I view the US NIE report as a softening of the US stance on Iran. Bush realises he can't go after Iran, there is simply no legal justification for it and it is not possible considering the amount of troops committed to Iraq. Maybe this softening by Bush is a last ditch attempt to help the Republicans gain lost ground?
Anyway, there has never been any real proof that Iran was seeking a nuclear weapons programme, so I don't think this should come as a surprise.
Iran has every right to enrich uranium for peaceful purposes and there is no proof they have done otherwise. We know that other countries, including the US, have been enriching uranium for weapons. So perhaps it is time to cut Iran a bit of slack here. The Iranian president is a very divisive, populist leader, but I don't regard him as a serious threat to world peace. he is more of a nuisance than anything else.

Genuine or not, I wonder if the world has trouble believing 'strong cases' presented by the US after the whole Iraq and WMD affair. Going into Iran is not a top priority for US Citizens who are losing their homes.
