You wont see the US lead a attack on Iran. However, you could see them join up after say...Israel does something first. I still think they would sit back and support Israel until they determined that Israel couldnt do the job by themselves.

Israel has the conviction and the might, however consider this... it was the US that went into Iraq not Israel. So, it is likely that it will be a repeat, IF it does happen, the US striking Iran.

For Iraq, the US had to lead the attack. They couldnt get the UN to do it. Here, there will be enough support that the US doesnt need to ask.
Why the Israelis....well they have done it before:

Of course, that was a Iraqi reactor, but there really isnt a whole lot of difference in the circumstances between the two in this situation.
The US cannot lead a invasion because they are tied up in Afghanistan and Iraq right now. Getting Afghanistan under control and Iraq in a condition that we can leave is priority. It is not to say that the US could not help with a operation and take a major role...we just cannot have another Iraq on our hands all at the same time.
No doubt Bush has to say that everything is on the table, because in actuality it is...but as long as things stay as they are...the US will do nothing but continue to work with other countries in putting more pressure on Iran through sanctions. If you dont say a attack is possible...it is the same as saying...hey you got 7 month to do what you want.

Comments: Iraq has oil, Afghanistan has opium, Iran natural gas which they supply to the growing economy of china, along with India and Russia - not exactly friends of the U.S., and have over half the world's population. This is a strategic move to enter into war with Iran, and it will occur later this year at some point, but expect it to be fought primarily in the air and from sea.
Hersh: Congress Agreed to Bush Request to Fund Major Escalation in Secret Operations Against Iran
Congressional leaders agreed to a request from President Bush last year to fund a major escalation of covert operations against Iran aimed at destabilizing Iran's leadership, according to a new article by veteran investigative journalist Seymour Hersh in the New Yorker magazine. The operations were set out in a highly classified Presidential Finding signed by Bush which, by law, must be made known to Democratic and Republican leaders. The plan allowed up to $400 million in covert spending for activities ranging from supporting dissident groups to spying on Iran's nuclear program. Hersh joins us from Washington DC.

Well, well, someone is trying to show they can flex some muscle too, but what will their missiles do, just hit a few targets in Israel? The US will definitely not take anything from their missiles unless it is directed towards their air attacks.

Definitely a show of power after Iran's definitive words about retaliating fiercely against any attack at them.
And Condi Rice has stated that the U.S. will protect its allies.
I've heard two rumors: Rumor #1 has it that the U.S. Navy is also shooting off missiles from ships in the area. Rumor #2 says the U.S. Navy is pulling its ships out of the region. I don't have sources - just rumors.
