Now Iran just sent warships into the Gulf saying they want to fight against the Somali Pirates, but in the past they have threatened to cut off the passage for oil in that area.

Having a sizable part of the Iranian navy in the water is not a good thing, especially after just testing a long-range missile. Ahmedinejad is also pumping up his rhetoric. Perhaps the upcoming elections have something to do with this?

Rather off topic, but...
Iran on the move, South Korea testing nukes, more troops to Afghanistan, no relief in Iraq, unemployment so high, economic instability everywhere.... I fear we're moving into the "summer of hell" this year.

We can certainly hope that he is right. I don't think he is, but then, I don't know what special arrangements Russia has made with Iran.

I am almost certain, however, that Iran has plans in place to use a nuclear weapon on Israel. I expect that Iran thinks Russia will protect it from most of the consequences of such an action, along with the pervasive fear and submission that Europe and most of Asia have shown towards Islam.

Pres. Obama has recently been heard to say that Iran does have legitimate reasons to have nuclear power for electricity. I wonder if this is butter for his Middle East trip.
