Well of course, most of them just say something because they can. Their leader, Ahmadinejad, is real good at that, there is a whole thread dedicated to his rantings on this site, Source 7

Don't Get It Twisted, We Are Already At War With Iran:
This weeks Iran launched an Oil Bourse on Kish Island. At the same time, former CIA officer and middle east expert Robert Baer stated that Israel is preparing to possibly attack on Iran in the Fall. Two U.S. hikers detained in Iran on espionage charges have been sentenced to eight years in prison, state-run TV reported Saturday. Josh Fattal and Shane Bauer were charged with illegal entry and spying.
They and another person, Sarah Shourd, were seized two years ago when they were hiking in the Iraqi Kurdish region near Iran. Shourd was released last year because of medical reasons, but Fattal and Bauer have remained imprisoned in Iran.
Iranian police said the Americans illegally entered Iran. The Tehran Prosecutor's office has "compelling evidence" that the three were cooperating with U.S. Intelligence agencies, Press TV has reported.
Shourd has said the hikers did not know they had crossed the border while hiking. Fattal and Bauer pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The United States has repeatedly called for their release. Ref. CNN
Sarkozy Warns Iran of Potential Pre-Emptive Attack:
French President Nicolas Sarkozy warned on Wednesday that Iran's attempts to build long-range missiles and nuclear weapons could lead unnamed countries to launch what he called a pre-emptive attack. "Its military nuclear and ballistic ambitions constitute a growing threat that may lead to a preventive attack against Iranian sites that would provoke a major crisis that France wants to avoid at all costs," he said. After a two-year ordeal, Josh Fattal and Shane Bauer, two American hikers jailed in Iran, have been released from Tehran's Evin prison, an official with the U.S. State Department confirms.
Fattal, Bauer and a third hiker, Sarah Shourd, were seized on July 31, 2009, after apparently straying across an unmarked border between Iraq and Iran. Iranian authorities arrested them, claiming they were spies and had entered the country illegally. Shourd was release last year for medical reasons.
Earlier this week, the Iranian Judiciary announced that they could be released on $500,000 bail, and it is unclear whether that amount has been paid. Ref. CNN
