Interesting point about the spirit leaving the body equals death. There have been some interesting insight on that as some astral projections have said they have witnessed a cord or string that leads back to their body as if you are extended from your body rather than leaving it.

I remember reading about such from Near Death Experiences, which for me is different than Astral Projection since in a NDE you are in fact physically dead (according to the medical definition).

Ohh, very cool topic. Well, I feel like I have special gifts, or talents, that are even mentioned in my patriarchal blessing. Ummm, I try to improve my abilities to read people's heart, and my intuitive talents. I have a daughter, who I think is particularly psychic, and I will often have thoughts of specific things right before she says them....one time I was even thinking of a person's name while on the computer, someone she does not know, and she started saying the name, I couldn't believe my ears so I asked her to repeat what she said, and she got scared and ran and buried her face in my lap. Anyways....I do think this is a sort of sixth sense, and if it helps us to feel the spirit, discern between truth and lie, connect with others and God, we should develop that talent.

However, saying that, and I am attracted to all those interesting topics as well, as ESP, things of that nature...I love astrology, ummm, I do think that we need to be careful. I think that you can let in some good, but then take the risk of letting in some bad as well; and I'm really not interested in seeing evil spirits, etc.

We should be careful not to replace prayer with something....more exhilarating. We should be careful not to draw attention to ourselves so that evil can try even harder to lure us away from truth.

I had a weird but very vivid dream once that every time someone sins...we emit an odor....one that attracts evil spirits. The odor dissipates, but the more often we sin the more odorous we are, and the evil spirits will be attracted to us; something we do not want hanging around with us.

Just be careful!

On one of the other posts about the Hollow Earth...and someone mentioned something about the city of Telos....which I researched. During my research, I read that the leader of this underground city will teach us telepathically how to increase our consciousness, etc., if at night we will call upon him to teach us...meditate....sounded an awful like praying to me. I wouldn't touch that with a 10-foot pole! No, not calling on anyone but Heavenly Father and Jesus Christs...thank you very much.

Yeah, I've heard that before about Telos and most of that is probably made up as a lot of information conflicts with itself. There is just TOO much information for something that's supposed to be extremely secret. So always, ALWAYS take it for what it's worth.

There is a great quote from Joseph Smith which being paraphrased explains that you can listen to astronomers all day but you will KNOW more about the stars in once glance to the heavens. In other words, peoples thoughts and ideas are nice and all and you can use it as a basis but until you see for yourself you will not have personal knowledge at all.

In other words, we must receive truth for ourselves and there is only one way. Prayer, directly to the Source. Heavenly Father.

I have a problem with that. I don't think anyone can read people's heart, heck I don't think anyone can read minds either, whoever says that it's a fraud plain and simple. Lets keep it realistic folks.

I believe all the talents and extra ones we are given come from God. So answering your question, whether is a direct gift or a brain related ability, I believe God is behind it all.

I would 90% of the time the so called psychics and all those who claim some sort of special talent are nothing but fraud. I'm pretty sure there are some folks who do have a gift but they don't go around publicizing it.
