In a word "nothing". Your membership comes into question for more serious things than drinking a beer but still participating in certain activities might be curtailed, it all depends on the bishop and the member when they talk about it.

If drinking becomes a problem whether it be social or holiday drinking or becomming a drunkard, then it becomes harder to repent because you have to give it up completely. He then may lose his right to participate in the partaking of the bread and water, leading prayer or teaching in Church, and a loss of the right to participate in the esoteric rites of temple worship.

Loses the Spirit? For drinking a beer? I think Mormons sometimes take everything to the extreme to be honest and that's why sometimes we're accused of being fanatical.
Vars, to make it short and sweet...nothing happens with a person's membership if they go to a party and had a beer. If they do so, they're breaking the Word of Wisdom but their membership isn't in jeopardy.

You don't think a Mormon, knowing the Word of Wisdom, wouldn't lose the companionship of the Holy Ghost after (and during) drinking a beer? What do you think the requirements are to keep the companionship of the Holy Ghost and why would this be considered fanatical relative to other Christian sects in light of say, Matthew 5:22?
