Federal judge temporarily blocks Texas restrictive abortion law. A judge in Austin sided with the federal government in a lawsuit over Texas' abortion ban, issuing an injunction Wednesday night that blocked the state from enforcing a law that bans most abortions. Ref. USAToday.
Supreme Court declines to block Texas’ 6-week abortion ban for a second time. The ruling is the second time in as many months that the court has rejected an emergency effort to block the Texas law. But the high court also announced Friday that it will hear two cases challenging the law on a fast-track schedule. Ref. USAToday.
Supreme Court allows Texas six-week abortion ban to remain in place; challengers can continue to sue. The move sends the underlying controversy back to the lower courts. In a separate case, the nation’s highest court is also considering a Mississippi law that bans abortion after 15 weeks of pregnancy. Ref. USAToday.
Texas Supreme Court rules against abortion providers, ‘effectively ending’ legal challenge to nation’s toughest law. The Republican-controlled Texas Supreme Court on Friday closed “the last back door” in providers’ efforts to block the state’s near-total ban on abortion, a decision hailed by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton as a “major victory” that will save thousands of unborn babies. My perspective on this, whether in the state of Texas or any other state, in how it is essential that women have access to safe, legal, and accessible abortion. It was a dirty trick that Texas pulled with their 'Heartbeat' law before, especially in basically turning state citizens into bounty hunters and having it that neighbors could turn in neighbors, family against family, and more. While also trying to set up the bill that they were not legally held responsible and could not be sued while giving those accused no recourse. Especially in not providing exceptions for rape or incest. Where an uncle could rape his niece and then turn her in if she tried getting an abortion. I will stand by in feeling it was, and is, an ugly bill.
To add to this, what the US Supreme Court did was inexcusable, and overturning Roe vs Wade sets the USA back 50 years. With those saying they did nothing wrong, simply turning it over to the state, despite knowing full well so many states would ban or heavily restrict abortion. The right to bodily autonomy must be seen as a human right and should be unconditional liberty. Again, banning abortion will not prevent abortion from happening, you will simply put an unfair financial burden on women and put them into an unsafe situation. Not even going into patient and doctor privacy.
Finally, the wealthy, our politicians and celebrities, will still be able to get their abortions, because they have the money to do so. Making this a burden on the poor, and a horrific injustice to those who are victims of abuse or sexual assault. Other rights and liberties will follow if we don't do something, as the judges are already considering other ruling to overturn, including the use and accessibility of contraception, and even undoing the legalization of homosexual marriage… Personally, I will fight to prevent this from happening, fight to protect the rights and liberties of others under attack.

The developments around abortions in Texas are disgusting. It has become increasingly obvious (Such as in the Kate Cox case) that these policies are not about "Protecting life", but about dominating and punishing women. I used to live in Texas, and even liked it there for the most part. Nowadays you couldn't pay me to move back there.
There are people that want to make laws based on their religious beliefs even though there's supposed to be a separation between church and state. Also a lot of men want to keep women subjugated like back in the old times.
