All bets are off now, people.
I'm sure everyone has, by now, heard of the capture and execution of some American soldiers.

The nice guy, let you surrender and go home, will now change.

Every soldier in the field will now be out for blood. Field commanders will now have the task of keeping the troops from killing every last one of the Iraqis.

You do NOT want to get US Marines really ticked off!

Well they are saying that they see pictures of them, but we do not know if those are recent (they could be old film from last war), but in any case it is sad that Saddam's army plays unfair. I think they highlight these kinds of things because they know how hard it is to capture US/UK soldiers.

Note: I think we really owe one to technology and brave journalists that bring us eyeview on the front line! It is amazingwhen you think of it. In the old days you would have to go to the cinema to see something and it was probably several months old.

CenCom has confirmed it now.
Some of them were executed, shot through the head.

I agree with you about the journalists.
I have followed one in particular. The first couple of days he was all cowboy, having a ball, talking the military lingo.

Last night he was on the air during a live fire fight and he was "tee-teeing" in his pants.

"There's somebody SHOOTING at me, from about thirty yards away"!

His entire tone and demeanor transformed when it got to be the real deal. Luckily for him, he was with the 1st Marines and they took them out in about 20 minutes. Nada, nothing, no survivors.

This morning he is very subdued, still shaky.

But yes, it is a marvel, and I hope they continue to do it in the future. Not for entertainment value, but for an accurate record.

It is such a terrible thing. I knew from the beginning that Saddam troops were going to kill the POW's. This guy is really evil. I do have serious doubt that the guy that the Iraqui TV is showing is Saddam himself, it could be an old tape, who knows!!. All I know is that if Saddam didn't respect the UN resolution why he would care about the lives of those soldiers?. *shaking head* I deeply feel sorry for those soldiers that are dying there...what a terrible thing.
I do agree with Stranger, now that the Iraquies have killed those American soldiers now the US troops would do may be the same or worst. I imagine they're so angry and upset at this point of time. But like I always say, war is never fair that's why I was never in agreement with this war in the first place.
About the role of the journalists in this war, all I can say is I admire them for their work, some of them are well experienced in the matter, others don't have a clue about it. A british journalist was killed already.
All the big channels are 'killing' themselves to see who have the breaking news first, so it will be really 'bloody' out there in the media area. You will hear lots of wrong information.. (more if you watch too much CNN :smile.gif )

LDS,
The US will NOT lose their honor over this.
They will continue to treat prisoners humanely, they will continue to act as real warriors,

but you can bet the fighting will now be something the Iraqi soldiers will wish had never happened to them.

The US soldiers however, will NOT lower themselves to the standards of that butcher.

What be that? Any address on the web?

What is up with that patriot missile downing an RAF plane! The patriots are supposed to be able to tell 'friendly' aircraft through radar.

The Brits (especially the ones anti the war) are going to really kick up fuss about this. In the late stages of the Gulf war (1990) I was in the UK and during the period where the US downed that UK plane the Brits were so angry we could not travel the streets.

I have heard the Americans are killing a lot of their own soldiers as well as British Soldiers. Whats up with that ?

About the capture and execution of some American soldiers, i was watching the the news on tv when they showed the dead bodies of those US soldiers and it was really sad. It's all very depressing, anyways i think the US/UK are being way to easy on Iraq troops.. I say more air bombarding and less ground fight...

JB,
Central Command.
As for the Patriot, they can tell. They send out a signal, to which the aircraft is supposed to respond. For some reason, the plane did not send the signal back. They have it under investigation to find out why.

Xtra,
You can count on it. The forces are now approaching the Republican Guard  divisions who are entrenched at the Tigris River.

What will happen is, the Coalition forces will pull up just out of artillery range and stop.
As I type this, the B-52s are taking off from England. Just about 8 hrs from now the Republican Guard Hammarabi Division is going to begin having a very bad night.

The 1st Marines are going to sit there and watch.
