Will the US/UK troops given in to that?
From CNN:
IRAQIS PRESS FOR URBAN WARFARE
As coalition forces press closer towards Baghdad, Iraqi Republican Guard
troops appear to be taking sanctuary in two cities south of the capital in an
apparent effort to bait U.S. forces into urban combat, CNN correspondent
Walter Rodgers reports.

Just as I thought....
From CNN:
SUICIDE BOMBING 'GIFT TO IRAQ'
A suicide bomb that injured dozens in northern Israeli was "a gift to the
Iraqi people," according to a Palestinian militant group that claimed
responsibility for the attack.

JB,
They will NOT give in to it. Troops in the field have been issued "shoot to kill" orders on all vehicles, with the stipulation that "even if it's a woman driving.
I posted something about suicide bombers in the other thread USA against Iraq.
This whole situation is becoming pretty creepy. Now I heard that Americans are not very happy about the amount of soldiers the US sent to Iraq. They said it's too small, is that true?. Hearing the US soldiers speaking, they are kind of surprised because they said that they didn't have to worry about anything, that the iraqi troops were going to surrender just like that and we are seeing that it's not so. So this guys are concerned, I can imagine they thought it would be like in the Persic Gulf War. They looked pretty afraid to me and of course they have reasons for.

LDS,
No, they didn't start with too few soldiers.
The hitch in the plans was Turkey, which held up some 60,000 soldiers, who are now moving into place the long way around.
If I had a criticism of the strategy, it would be that they didn't give up on Turkey sooner and begin moving those troops a long time ago.
It is actually a very good plan strategically, and the critics overlook simple facts. Most of the critics I have listened to don't seem to have a grasp of the facts.
Think about it.
They began with a bombing campaign that focused attention on Baghdad for several days.
When the Iraqi army looked up about four days later, they found the entire coalitions army staring them in the face. they had sprinted 300 miles and have them in a position where they cannot move.
They could have moved south and forced the troops to fight for every inch of ground. Now they are trapped and bombers are picking them off like flies.
Now reinforcements are coming up behind, securing supply lines and taking all those little towns along the way. No hurry, no big deal.
The Republican Guard can do NOTHING to help the rest of the country. The troops have taken their southern port, their oil fields, their western and northern air fields, from which they will be able to launch quicker bombing runs.
Having lost the west, they can't launch SCUD attacks at Israel.
They can't do anything except sit there and get bombed.
Now we don't even have to fight the Republican Guard. We can just bomb them until they either give up or are exterminated. Sounds like a plan to me!!
The trying to "shock and awe" them was worth the effort. If it had worked, we could have saved tens of thousands of lives.

Concerning strategy, is Rumsfeld telling the truth?
From CNN:
Rumsfeld denies overruling military plan
U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld has
dismissed "hyperventilating" critics of the war in Iraq and
called reports that he vetoed plans by top officers for a larger
invasion force "fiction."

My Lord this thing is getting crazy. Why did they not stop? Or is this a coverup for something else? Who knows in the evils of war.
From CNN:
U.S. soldiers fire into van carrying 13 women and children after it fails to stop at checkpoint,
Central Command says. Seven found dead, two wounded.

[quote]Yes, that was very sad. I know the guys that did it are freaking out right now.

What will make them feel worse is that they did not fire a warninf shot, which should be a standard procedure.
With 3000 suicide bombers ready to move on the coalition how do they expect to use this as a real weapon if it involves a human getting close to another human? I doubt soldiers will allow any suspicious Iraqi around them at all.
By the way, there is an Iraqi Online site if you care to get news from that viewpoint: https://www.iraqinews.com
