It's not all the film unions' fault but they picked the wrong fight
There is no doubt unions are getting a bad rap over their part in The Hobbit fiasco. If you follow the first rule of business - to follow the money - then the strength of the Kiwi dollar against the greenback and the subsidy deals on offer in other countries, as well as the opportunity for Warner Bros to squeeze more out of the Government's subsidy lemon, are probably at least as important as any uncertainty the actors' union may have caused. Hi being from New Zealand I can say it will be made here.
I'm not sure on the time frame but the start is going to be soon I think. It will be split over two movies.
They have already started work on improving and up grading the current location of Hobbiton, so maybe in the near future. I will investigate and report what I discover.
Oh this is just laughable as I'm sure that when written J.R.R. Tolkien did not intend for the Hobbits to be a racially different group.
Yes I know that they had different groups and types of Hobbits but I don't think the books ever talk about dark skinned Hobbits.
Yes I can understand that she is maybe a little upset but the thing the movies try to do is stick very close to the books so I can see why they have made this decision. It would be like suggesting that there should be no height limit for a hobbit either.
What are the laws on employment discrimination in your country? I get if they tell her that she isn't 'suitable' but to actually spell out that its because of her skin color could get the Hobbit creators a law suit because like Hayden said there isn't anything that says all the Hobbits had to be white!
