Astronauts, Space Workers Offer Designs for NASA Shuttle Patch Contest

SPACE.com - Two months ago, NASA put out the call to its past and
present employees: design a patch to symbolize the end of the space shuttle
program coming to a close in 2010, and the chosen artwork will fly to orbit on
one of the final flights.

I will be sad to see the shuttles go without a real good replacement for them. I would have thought with the technology that we have now that a newer shuttle design would have been built and put into service. I guess a shuttle that can take off and fly into space and back is still beyond our governments space program but not beyond a private enterprise.
