Every man to his own opinion
Please consider the following quote and place your thoughts about it within your reply:
"I have always strenuously supported the right of every man to his own opinion, however different that opinion might be to mine. He who denies another this right makes a slave of himself to his present opinion, because he precludes himself the right of changing it."
-- Thomas Paine (1737-1809) - Source: The Age of Reason, 1783
To me, this is one of those no-brainers, and I'm sure it is to most people, regardless of what country you live in, etc. If for no other reason than we are able to extrapolate and empathize with how other people would feel if put in a position we would put them in, by not allowing them their opinion - if I say "You can't show support for your candidate", we can think how we would feel if the roles were reversed.
That's really all it takes, is seriously taking just a few seconds to think, "How would I feel, in a similar situation?" It is when this doesn't happen, that opinions and free speech is squelched, and it is obvious whoever is doing it has no interest or maybe ability, to look inside, to consider their own actions or motivations, they have no intention of putting themselves in someone else's shoes, or else they might feel differently about what they do.
