I was just wondering if stores do a background check on the Santa Claus they hire to talk with the kids. Could you imagine if that Santa your kid is sitting on was a convicted pedophile? The reason I also ask this is especially true of replacement Santa Claus who come in at the last minute to cover for another who cannot make it. Some stores will become desperate in such a situation but how much security is placed into the process of hiring Santa?

I'm not a parent so I don't like think about this stuff but make me think about when my mom used to take me to sit on Santa's lap at the mall. Man I hope he wasn't a pedo.

Yes many malls and large department stores do a background check on the person who plays santa. Many have a person they hire every year to make sure they have a safe person. I know a few malls in the area that will close santas shop down for a day or two if he is sick and cannot make it in to avoid possible dangers to children.
