Hi Gloom, by the way welcome to the forum!. I know, lose weight is not that easy and also sacrifices must be made but not everybody is willing to do it.
You didn't really said what's the reason you put on weight and how much extra pounds you have, in that way, we will be able to help you a bit more.
I can just tell you my experience as a model. When I became pregnant of my son I putted on more than 27 pounds and I lost all of them. I still would like to lose probably 5 more pounds but I'm very comfortable with my weight right now (118lbs)
Well, enough of me and let me give you some hints:
* First of all, you have to think seriously if you want to lose weight and why you want to do it. Tell everybody (family, friends, boyfriend, etc) that you wanna lose weight and that you need their support on it.
* Drink PLENTY water. You usually drink 8 glasses of water but if you can drink more than 8 glasses. DO NOT drink after 4:00pm because then you will have several trips to the bathroom. Water is a great help to lose weight and clear up your system.
* Fruit Diet. There is a wonderful book called 'Back to Eden' by Jethro Kloss, you can borrow it from the public library. Basically you just eat fruits for 2 days, and drink plenty water. This is NOT intented to lose weight BUT to prepare your body to start eating properly and eventually lose weight. (Forget about those cheap diets of the magazines, they never work out!)
*Exercise! (yeah, I know, it's boring!) try at least 30 minutes every day, specially do exercises on the parts of your body where you see you need it the most (legs and butt are the common ones for women). This step is very important in order to lose weigh, you can starve yourself but if you do not exercise or at least walk often then you will not lose the weight.
* Do you eat a lot of junk food or meats?. If you do so, try to cut it off. Junk food has so much oil on it and you will not believe how fast you can put on weight because of that. Meats also, not only are fattening but it takes days to digest in your system.
*Choose more healthy meals. I became a vegetarian some time ago. Nobody can believe it! because I used to love meat soooo much! but I found such a great substitutes and not to mention wonderful salads and pasta recipes. You can search on it on the net!
To lose weight is not really a matter of what kind of diet you follow but rather the kind of lifestyle you wanna live. If you want to start a more healthy one (eating right and exercising) then you will lose the weight so fast you will not even notice it!.
Last tip, if you eat breakfast try eating ONLY fruits and juice. No eggs, pancakes or heavy food to digest. For lunch a great salad or pasta (do not eat seconds) and for dinner go easy. (a soup may be). DO NOT eat between meals! and eat dinner BEFORE 6:00pm. As soon as you finish dinner, go and brush your teeth, that way you will know that the day finished right there. No more food.
If is becoming really tough, and you feel very hungry, ALWAYS choose fruits as snacks or carrot sticks. Air-pop corn (no oil! and no butter!) is a great snack also.

First off, I would like to say that if you want to lose weight make sure it is for yourself, and not for modeling.
I know that sounds like a very typical comment, because I have heard that, and I have also been told not to gain weight to stay into modeling,.
But I have come to grips with the fact ,that if you want to be a model then be the size that you are happy at.
Models come in all shapes and sizes and all do very well.
But the main thing to me, about weight is being healthy.
I try to stay healthy by:
#1 Do not drink sodas, since they are terrible for you(And I am not just talking about the weight gain it does give you.)
#2 Drink plenty of water, 8 glasses per day, but try not to drink to much water, as over consumption of anything will also put weight on. BUT I REALLY WULDNT WORRY ABOUT WATER DOING THAT TO MUCH)
#3 TRY TO STAY AWAY FROM BREADS(TOO MANY CARBS,
SAME WITH POTATOES)(STARCHY)
#4 HERES THE BIG ONE: NO JUNK FOOD(This includes chocolate,,, so bad for you)
EXERCISE IS VERY IMPORTANT:
MAKE IT FUN, PUT ON YOUR FAVORITE MUSIC, GET INTO IT, AND WHEN YOU SEE A CHANGE IN YOUR BODY YOU WLL WANT TO GO GO GO!
eat a small snack before exercising,not a meal.
This way your body has something to help burn fat off with.
SO HERES THE RUN DOWN OF WHAT YOU SHOULD DO:
In my opinion this has worked for me,
You don't necessarily have to eat 3 meals a day if you are trying to lose weight:
Try to eat in moderation:
Like
Eat a Granola Bar in the morning, get dressed, then exercise:
Stretch out, then try to do crunches for your stomach, try to side ones, with legs piviting left to right ,left to right.(Its hard to explain, feel free to contact me for more info)
start off with as many as you can, then you can take a break by doing hand weights, then go back and try crunches again. IF YOU CANT DO IT FOR VERY LONG, THEN THATS OK, I SAY SOMETHING IS BETTER THAN NOTHING, AND TRY TO PROGRESS EACH DAY.

EATING SKINLESS CHICKEN AD SALAD IS GOOD,
VEGETABLES, ETC.
WATCH YOUR FAT GRAM INTACT: FOR LOSING WEIGHT TRY TO STAY AROUND 12 GRAMS OF FAT.
IF YOU WANT TO EAT SOMETHING UNHEALTHY LIKE:
PIZZA(Eat 1 piece) don't torture yourself by eating none, because then you will end up eating more because you are thinking about it.
TRY NOT TO DO THAT OFTEN.
JUST MAKE IT A WAY OF LIFE. ITS NOT HARD, ONCE YOU DO IT FOR A SHORT TIME, AND YOU'LL SEE THE DIFERENCE, JUST MAKE SURE YOU ARE DOING IT FOR THE RIGHT REASONS.(YOURSELF)
