Oral Roberts
Oral Roberts, the evangelist who rose from tent revivals to found a multimillion-dollar organization and an Oklahoma university bearing his name, has died. He was 91. Spokesman A. Larry Ross says that Roberts died Tuesday of complications from pneumonia in Newport Beach, California. Roberts was hospitalized after a fall on Saturday. He had survived two heart attacks in the 1990s and a broken hip in 2006. Ref. SignOnSanDiego.com
I never watched much of his stuff, but everyone here in Oklahoma, and especially this area around Tulsa, sure know about him, and ORU and such; he and Billy Gram and Pat Robertson and I guess even Jim Bakker seemed to always somehow be all "in-cahoots", for lack of a better word. Oral sure had the evengelist personality, and faith healing and tent revivals - you name it. And end of an era.
