Tree Man / Treeman - Hpv Virus

Tree Man / Treeman

Just Noted this on the article with the girl who had one arm being removed from her back. Source

Makes one think how he would have been treated by a priest in medieval times. What legends or lore could have stemmed from such a virus.

Tree Man? Thats not even a good super villain name! laugh.gif This guy looks like he should be a crew mate on the Flying Dutchman. Whats odd is that it doesn't appear to be painful, he seems to be happy, as does his little girl. And he doesn't seem to mind all the attention either.

Tree Man / Treeman - Hpv Virus Health & Special Psychology

I seriously have never seen anything like this before or would of thought it was possible! I just wonder how he does anything!

That is one of the things about growing up in the USA where medicines are available whenever you need them. It makes one thankful but also sorrowful to see something like this that Vitamin A will help!

As konquererz mentioned, he seems happy--and I guess he may be happy with the fact there is hope for him. It seems as if they (the growths on hands and feet) would be so heavy! It mentions he is often ridiculed. I think it is amazing that he raised his two children after his wife left him.

Thanks for sharing this!

I saw the first National Geographic documentary about the "Tree Man / Treeman" and was very sorry for what the man had to go through. At the same time I was glad by the end of the one hour film to learn that he had success in the treatment of the skin virus.

Now a year later I am watching a new documentary "Treeman Meets Treeman". Another man with the same problem comes out of hiding in the jungle to finally get treatment.

At least it is treatable but the scarring after must be horrific. I know the other person was finally back to his family. Sad to think how many years he missed on his children growing up.

This man is facing new challenges as 'branches' begin to regrow. How sad. I was hoping that they won't.

international QUOTE
Dede Koswara, the Indonesian man known to the world as "Tree Man," is once again battling woody growths that are threatening to cover his body.

Having been largely freed from what doctors said was an extreme case of the sexually transmitted disease human pappilomavirus (HPV), Dede's life began returning to normal after surgery in August. He was diagnosed by American dermatologist, Dr. Anthony Gaspari.

He first made headlines around the world in 2007, when shocking pictures emerged of the mysterious Indonesion man who appeared to be covered in bark. He was also the subject of a documentary on the Discovery Channel.

It took almost two years for doctors to diagnose "Tree Man" with a rare genetic problem that robbed him of the ability to fight HPV.

HPV is one of the most common sexually transmitted diseases and is said to be the cause of the majority of cases of cervical cancer in women. There are different strains of HPV, one of which causes warts. It's believed that Dede's bark-like covering was caused by an out of control case of these warts...
