QUOTE
I guess this topic went to sleep because there was talk of the courts stopping the elections, but it is still on for October. Did any of you see him in the debate? Do you think he did well? the critics said he was 'average'. I like how he used the idea of 'Terminator 4' for the woman that was cheeky in the beginning.

This is one of the very few times that I miss having TV!!  I would have loved to see this debate, especially after hearing that it got sort of out of hand.  However, this was a debate where the participants had advance copies of the list of questions, and, therefore, time to prepare their responses.  So I really have to wonder how much of Arnold's performance was scripted?  Of course, so was everyone else's.  But Arnold in particular, because he's an actor anyway.  And he will *not* participate in any debates where he can't get the list of questions beforehand.

Who is it that advises him and prepares his comments for him?  How much of what he speaks about is actually his own opinion, and how much is someone in the background?

It will be interesting to see how it all turns out.

In my opinion.

Oh, great.  Now he's a molester of women.

"Schwarzenegger, responding to graphic and detailed allegations in the Los Angeles Times from six women who said they had been groped by the actor, on Thursday acknowledged he had behaved badly in the past and apologized for offending women.

At least three other women, including nationally syndicated radio host Joy Browne, have since come forward with similar accounts of incidents in the late 1970s and early 1980s."

Is it for real?  Or publicity?  Or political manipulation?  He disappoints me more every day.

I read his book some years ago and from his own description of women during his early years I can tell you that he did not have much respect for them. Maybe he has matured now, but as you know... when it comes to politics there is no such thing as 'forgive and forget'.

It's possible he's changed, but usually a man who thinks it's okay to grope strange women -- and has a history of more than 30 years doing so -- will always think it's okay.  He might feel bad if he gets caught, but he'll continue to practice misbehaviour in spite of any scoldings he receives.

Arnold's quotes from his apology say he thought he was being "playful" -- which tells me he really does not feel sorry for doing it, because he doesn't understand the deep insult it is to women to be mishandled.

Farseer, you're totally right...I don't really know much about him and what he did.....but if he said he was playful obviously he has some issues he needs to resolve :smile.gif actually most men who harrass women don't think they're doing that, they think they're just being 'nice' :smile.gif

Well they are going to use that against him, but in a place like California will it matter? I mean if it were Utah then...

LAST BIG PUSH IN RECALL ELECTION
Arnold Schwarzenegger tried to maintain his momentum amid sexual-misconduct
allegations while Gov. Gray Davis pleaded to keep his job Monday as the
California recall candidates barnstormed the state in the final hours of the
historic campaign.

Well, I suppose I should have expected this.

"Schwarzenegger prevailed despite a flurry of negative publicity in the campaign's final days, surviving allegations that he had groped women and accusations that as a young man he expressed admiration for Adolf Hitler.

The 56-year-old Austrian immigrant - husband of television journalist Maria Shriver - finds himself in charge of the nation's most populated state with an economy surpassed by only five countries. He takes office as soon as the election results are certified, no later than Nov. 15, and will serve out the final three years of Davis' term."

QUOTE
But the recall was more than a message to Davis, said former Clinton White House chief of staff Leon Panetta, who called the result a warning shot to all incumbent officeholders.

"It's a revolt of people who are increasingly angry at the crises that face them, and at the failure of leadership," Panetta said. " If I were a Republican, I wouldn't get too cocky about what happened."

Arnie's got his work cut out for him.  I hope he has some really good advisors!
