Storm of the Century

Whoa, this was some kind of movie. I just finished watching Stephen King's Storm of the Century on DVD. This movie is rated PG-13 and runs about 256 minutes long.

The movie takes place in a town called Little Tall Island and they are preparing for a terrible snowstorm. The island is just off the coast of Maine and the island finds themselves cut off from the rest of the world during the worst storm of the century. Just before the storm sets in, and stranger comes into the town and that's when everything starts to get strange. This definitely has some suspense and gets really creepy at times too. This movie is sorta hard to describe without giving away the ending.

As usual Steven brings an absolutely good movie to it's end by leaving you with more questions than you begun with in the first instance. Has anyone been able to hypothesize who the sorcerer or man was that took the child away? Was he evil or just looking after his own interests?

The movie is excellent. I watched a couple of times and I think is awesome. Tim Daly did a great job as the father of Ralphie and Colm Feore (the evil one) wow, he was just amazing.

He is Satan himself or a group of devils maybe?. Just like Neo (One) of the Matrix (anagram). His character name was Andre Linoge (Legion) clearly identifying one of the names of Satan himself.

How did you come about that answer? I saw where he, Colm, knew the past evils of everyone, but at the same time he acted as though he was some kind of ancient magician since he carried a magical staff and had venerable features. Another thing he admitted was that he was somehow getting too old and needed someone to pass on his 'skills' to, something that Satan really does not need, nor does devil(s) become old.

Well, first of all it is a science fiction movie wink.gif but I believe the purpose of the director is to show that Satan even though may be able to live much longer than most of us, he in fact can get older and "die" eventually. Just before he went and took little Ralphie, you can see his "true" face and look and you will notice that he is very old giving the impression that he may need a replacement for his job on the earth, leaving little Ralphie to fulfill that role.

Yes, of course it is just a movie, but for me a movie must have purpose and direction, however, that is the thing about Steven King movies that is always odd - some things just do not make sense. I mean I can appreciate that he wanted to use Satan as the role for the evil on this island, but couldn't he come up with a better excuse than he was simply 'getting old'?

It goes beyond that. In my opinion King is trying to make Satan look as more "human" than people think (just his overall physical look) and that he possess some attributes and consequences than we all humans has to go through like getting old and die.
