Movie Violence - Violent Films
A possible reason for why Stranger... *cough* I mean people seem to like violence later in life. What are your thoughts about violence in movies?

Yes, that's why we need to keep track of what our children watch on TV, I have never heard anybody being violent as an adult because of the fact that he/she watched 'Blues' Clues' or 'Sesame Street'.
Offtopic but, JB, Stranger will kill you for that comment! |
I do believe that TV/Movies affect ones behavior. If someone is subjected to something long enough then they adapt to it, that is our nature. Although I am a strong believer that our will power can let us overcome almost anything in life. It's what we choose to do or what not to do that matters. Although I think it is important to be knowledgable about many things, there are times where being innocent has it's upsides. I think kids should be able to grow up thinking that saying "You're not my friend anymore" is about the worst thing you can tell someone and seeing someone kiss being the grossest thing. Kids have the rest of their lives to experience the bad things...let them enjoy it as care/worry free as possible when they are young.

Many times in today's society, there are some parents that use TV as a babysitter and not really pay attention to what their children are watching. For instance, I remember hearing on the news a long time ago when Beavis and Butthead were on Mtv. A child burned his home down as a result of watching an episode where Beavis (or maybe it was Butthead) were playing with matches and fire. The parents, of course, blamed the show. But what bothers me, is that they used to air the show late at night. So, there are two questions that arise, why was this adolescent child watching the show at such a late hour? And where was a parent during this time? I believe it comes down to paying a little bit more attention to what their children are watching. Sometimes sitting down with them and watching tv together, but of course letting the child know that some of the shows on tv aren't real. Let's use wrestling as an example also. There are teenagers and adolescents watching wrestling, and then going and doing the same moves they just watched on the show. Only to cause bodily harm and in few cases, death of a friend or family member. Of course, the WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) caught alot of heat from this. So now they air promos with the wrestlers telling the audience to not do this at home. But the question is still there. Where are the parents?
PARENTS URGED TO TURN OFF VIOLENT TV
The Families Commission is calling for a national campaign against family violence that would include asking parents to switch off violent television programmes.

I am beginning to notice that more and more violent movies are being created. I also noticed that most of the rating for these movies are terrible! For example, there are some that are rated "All ages" but sometimes there are certain little scenes on the movies that are meant for a PG13 rating.
I do believe those businesses think the more "Gory" or "Violent" those movies are is the more money these companies make, but that is the problem, these companies don't care about others who might be affected. I have been affected when I was younger because of these movies.
