The House of Representatives yesterday moved to stop the proliferation of firearms in Nigeria by considering a bill seeking to repeal and re-enact the Firearms Act Number 32, 1959.
The bill also seeks to prescribe more stringent and modern ways of firearms control.
Rep Umar Adam Katsayal (CPC, Katsina), who sponsored the bill, said the rate of fire arms proliferation in the country was alarming and poses serious threat to public peace.
