I've listened to quite a lot of Enya lately. I started listening to her when I first picked up her first album, "The Celts", in the school library. And then, I started doing some research on Celtic music (okay, not her music, for the record) and I began listening to more of her songs.
And my overall opinion is that her earlier songs are possibly better than her later ones. My favourite album till date is still "The Celts", and that's not because it was the one I started with. I just happen to like the music in that album more, and I managed to listen to the entire CD without skipping a single track.
She is a good artiste, really. Hmm... Maybe not her voice. And maybe not because her music is soothing... I just like her type of music, I suppose.
I have been listening to Enya for sometime and her music makes me feel great and calms me when i'm sad or angry. The first song that I liked of her (the first time I heard for her) was "May it be" a soundtrack from Lord of the Rings : Fellowship of the Ring . Ever since then I love her songs. The latest song I heard was Sumiregusa and its ok even though I don't understand a thing.
I read that the lyrics for the song were inspired by haiku of a japanese poet.
I adore Enya. I love my 'A Day Without Rain' CD. There are just some days where I need something calm, but my worship cd's just aren't hitting the spot. Of course, now I have two Celtic Christian CDs that also rock my rhombus, but nothing compares to Enya.
I love Enya's music..she's really a great artist and quite unique. It's amazing the loads of effort she puts into her songs..all vocals are done by her true..but she puts layers and layers upon layers of vocals to get the haunting tone that she achieves..I swear it sounds like she went over the the song hundreds of times to create music using her voice as a backdrop to the actual main vocal..its amazing! And her ability to create rather upbeat tempos without the use of the ordinary drums..thats cool! And then, there's the lyrical content..both in Irish and English..her lyrics are different to the ordinary song..its not subjective..more objective..in the sense that its more about scenery..rain, mountains, green grass..at least that's my opinion..and why I like her music so much. But can someone please clear this up for me..I' ve been wondering for ages...the strings she uses in her songs..are they of the violin or fiddle or some other instrument?I love violin so when I heard it I automatically thought that that was what I was hearing..but then..I listened closer and I'm not so sure anymore..it could be a fiddle or perhaps something native to Ireland?..its been burning me for quite some time now.

Do you all know Enya has a panic room at her mansion/castle? Yep, a panic room. In the beginning I thought this woman must have some issues but then searching more about this, it seems like she indeed have a reason for such thing. She has manystalkers even though her place is supposed to be secured. This is what happened to her last year:

Reclusive Irish singer Enya spent a terrifying two hours hiding in the panic room in her Dublin home, when an alleged stalker broke into the mansion to look for her. Police officers have revealed the star's maid was tied up by the intruder, who searched Enya's Manderlay castle in the city suburb of Killiney for two hours, before escaping with several of the singer's possessions after she activated an alarm. Cops say the scary incident took place six weeks ago, only a week after an Englishman was arrested on the grounds of Enya's home... |
