I fell in love with Enya's music in 1986 soon after she left Clannad (which I also like). I collected everything I could and had some communication with Roma (Eithne Brennan (Enya), Roma Ryan and Nicky Ryan were the threesome behind 'Enya') and received Christmas cards from them back then for a good few years.
She became internationally famous in 1989 with Watermargin and I guess the fan mail and Christmas cards got impossible to keep up with
I have quite a bit of Enya memorabilia, including signed phots and the like. I was glad Peter Jackson asked Enya to be involved with the music of the Lord of the Rings because it is her favourite novel (and mine). Enya even worked on a song called Loth Lorien some years ago which was based on the place of the same name in Middle-earth.
Her music is amazing, utterly enchanting. It has often been a source of upliftment to me. She ranks as my favourite artist of all time, and Roma's lyrics are second-to-none in my opinion.
Ah, memories...

Dubhdara, by any chance do you know more of her personal details? I know she keeps it hidden well but maybe you know:
1. If she is married or not, if nor then her reason. Many sites gossip about her being lesbian, but you know how people can be carried away.
2. What is her religion and if she has any beliefs in the gaelic traditions
3. Why she does not hold concerts? I saw her on Regis and that was cool, too bad she doesn't do it more often.
Many times she was in New York signing CDs and photos, I wonder what it would have been like to see her in person.. have you? She seemed to be incredibly shy on Regis.
I never met Enya, but only by about 30 minutes!
I watched/listened to a good few interviews but she never said anything about marriage. I believe she was living with Roma and Nicky Ryan for a long time and then moved into some castle-like house near Dublin - again, on her own as far as I knew. That was a while ago though.
She certainly has a love for the Irish celtic tradition; I am not sure about religion but I believe her family are Catholic by tradition.
I don't know about the concerts. Yes, she seemed very shy when younger; perhaps she still is.
I know nothing about the gossip and would discount it myself.
There's quite an on-line community for her - I think it's enya.com or something like that. Perhaps someone will know more than me (highly likely) as I've not been paying close attention over the last few years.
She's still the best though!
