Today the EMS (ambulance responce unit), known as the Emergency Medical Services went on strike because they do not have the equipment to respond to an emergency. They have to use their own cars to pick up patients, they have no gloves, etc. They said that there are only eight ambulances servicing the WHOLE of Trinidad! Can you imagine if there was a national emergency? People would die just waiting on an ambulance!
Now what did government say? We will be a first world nation by 2020? We are still 'importing doctors' and soon we may have to import ambulance drivers too!
That is the thing with our journalists here, they do not follow-up. Did we get anymore ambulances? It is important to know, afterall it could be your life at risk if they say, 'Sorry we do not have an ambulance for your area'.
