16 Years to Life
Heather D'Aoust, 16, who used a hammer to kill her adopted mother in her Scripps Ranch home has been sentenced to 16 years to life.
D'Aoust pleaded guilty Dec. 17 to second-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon and admitted allegations that she personally used a hammer in the May 25, 2008, attack. Ref. SignOnSanDiego.com
That must have been a very violent episode since a hammer is a blunt weapon unless she used the claw side. I have not read the details but let me guess... Either the girl was being abused and retaliated or the girl was disturbed, I hope it is not that the girl simply could not get her way.
