Assyria and Babylonia

These regions had a great empire that basically shifted and changed whole populations either to their extinction or bondage. In the Old Testament the kings of Assyria and Babylonia were used to punish Israel and surrounding neighbors. Prophecies still refer to Babylon and the Last Days. Have you thought about the location of modern day Assyria and Babylonia and what represents the Babylonian empire today?

I see modern Babylon not as a particular country, but more as the basic cultural structure of the world that is based upon the ancient Roman empire. That is, the corrupt, secular, money-oriented culture that pays no more than lip service, if even that much, to God.

Assyria is more difficult for me to define. I see the United Nations as being a part of it with its many programs aimed at dominating cultures and enforcing its own peace, similar to the Pax Romana. We see it, the UN, making a huge stink about Israeli attempts to defend themselves, but look away (and run away) during the massacre in Rwanda. It screams about so called human rights abuses in the United States, but puts Syria in a lead position in the "Human Rights Commission." It is "Progressive" and wants to be the government for the whole world and control every aspect of everyone's lives.

In prophecy, Assyria provides a King for the world, who is usually described as the Antichrist. This is an international ruler who will seek to impose his despotic rule over all, and who will severely persecute Israel and other religious entities. It will be under the Assyrian King's rule that Jerusalem will be taken and looted.

Essentially, Babylon and Assyria are types and shadows of major cultures in the last days, rather than descriptions of specific countries. Both of the ancient empires were established in what is now Iraq.

Comments: Wasn't the Babylonian empire basically overrun by the Persians and then later by the Greeks under Alexander the Great? Goes to show you that no matter how strong an empire may seem there is always someone stronger out there. This should be especially noted in places like the USA and UK where people are all too comfortable that they have the best armies and the best empires. Modern day Babylon is seen by many religions to be the forced government. A place like China is a good example. If you blink your eyes in China they have a law for that. Russia is perhaps softer than China now. China can really be seen as the great Babylon of today, you can't get more anti-God than that.

Comments: Babylon was the ancient beginnings of a nation that personified idolatry as worshiping the works of man's hands.

This is a religion based in materialism and is a world wide phenomena today. But the roots of modern Babylonian idol worship is centered here in the United states and is refered to as the religion of capitalism, with it's world capitol as being New York City and headquartered in what used to be the World Trade Center.

Isaiah mentions "twice" the towers have fallen and is a sign of our impending doom as a nation representing modern day Babylon.

As far as the modern day counter part to ancient Assyria is concerned, the country today which most closely personifies the attributes of ancient Assyria is Russia,a cruel militaristic nation bent on world domination.

So the two major end time players to initiate the third world war nuclear Holocaust will involve the USA & Russia.

And from there, everything pretty much goes down hill...

The Arabs are no real treat to us but rather a costly diversion designed to weaken our will and economy as Russia prepares to have us for lunch.

In the end, the Chinese/India/Pakistan etc...(The Kings of the East) will make their final run at Israel proper while the King of Assyria ( Vladamir Putin ) will have met his end at the hands of the Lord's people gathered to New Jerusalem (Zion).

It's all a big mess for those who fight against Zion and her Angels. And the Lord Himself will execute judgment upon the Fasteners for having the gall to attempt wiping out the Jews. (Armageddon).

In the end, the Kings of the East don't fair so well either.

Then it's time to call it a day and the Lord shorty then returns in Glory.

And those of us in Zion are caught up to meet Him in the air. Game over.
