What is your strategy for confronting the fantasy creature Shield Guardian in Dungeons & Dragons?

I think the key when fighting a shield guardian would be to backstab or do some massive damage to the wearer of the amulet. The Shield Guardian itself has massive statistics. The difficulty to hit this thing is up there with a dragon. It's hit points are not anything to sneeze at either.

Focusing on the wearer of the amulet seems like the only way to go. As they are probably casters who are a bit more squishy (low AC and HP).
