She has serious issues! I don't care how much they're paying I will not sell myself period. Having said that I can't even dream up selling myself ONLINE! How many sickos there are out there and she'll just be labled a slut.
Even if there is a screening process, I agree this is a truly baffling and disheartening thing - but that is just my opinion.
On the other hand, I grew up in a bit of an odd family in the Bible Belt, plus am socially stunted and undeveloped, and I've found as I've grown older is that a lot of the things and values I took for granted as universal have little if any real meaning in the "outside world", or respect for those by others.
Objectively, however, I know it is said that this whole virginity issue is an artificial construct established probably as a control method by parents or religious leaders, and being a virgin or not doesn't actually reflect on a person in any way, good or bad, except what we as a society have originally attached to it, but which is losing its relevance or adherence - it is just a process or experience someone has gone through, and some may have gone pleasantly and some may have been a disaster, but so is baking a cake. There is really nothing "special", empirically, about "the first time" except signifying usually an organism's emergence into reproductive adulthood, which millions of animals go through each day.
That all being said, I still can't help but still have a certain fondness for when there was more significance and interpersonal meaning behind this act, rather than something to be used as a resource for something as mundane as money, to pay for education for a job in a field that may not ever be achieved.
I just don't know if I think anything, education or other, that would be important enough to just auction something like that off to whoever had more in their Paypal account. Plus I'd imagine it's still prostitution.
Of course, upon hearing such a thing, everyone is shocked and comment on easy women and how people are getting worse each year, calling her names etc etc. Everyone does it, but if you try and think about it a bit more than what lies in the surface, you'll also notice some things about taboos in society and more importantly, the reason she is actually doing that thing. I'm not willing to debate on virginity, as it is, in my personal opinion, something exaggerated by society and the way most of us grew up, me included.
But if that girl really valued her virginity and was willing to lose it in order to get a better life and get in the university, then that's a very difficult and dangerous call to make, because as Krusten said, yes, there are many dangerous people out there. Perhaps it is a trick. I don't know, but I think it's best to look at things both ways before drawing conclusions. And in the end, it's really her life; people make different choices and lead different lives, no?
There isn't anything good about this. The very fact someone is prostituting themselves for money means a sad state of affairs for the girl and whomever brought her up. For her sake I hope she lives to tell about it.
