I am a(an): Resident of T&T
I was really upset and angry when I see the Trinidad Express article about a 6 years old boy who has suffered of severe burns in his hand by a relative who openly put the hand of the child on the stove because 'he came dirty'. An uncle of the child who visited the family for Easter was the ONLY one who saw the hand of the child and removed him immediately from the house and take him to a hospital.
What makes me more sick about the whole incident is the neighboors. After this story is in the newspapers, they said that this kids and his brothers have been suffering from physical abuse for a long time. They saw how a relative used to beat the children with an iron
pipe and other incidents and they did ABSOLUTLY nothing to report it to the police! IT MAKES ME SICK that this people KNOWING AND WITNESSING these incidents did NOT do ANYTHING to protect this children. They are as sickening as the 'animal' who put the little hand of this innocent child on the stove.
This is just typical of the mentality of the people here. They like to watch (macko), but do not tell them to do anything about it... you will hear things like...
"Who me? Not me we"
"Nah, I doh wa trouble nah"
"And what de police will do? Nothing!"
"That child give d parents trouble we"
