Tarrasque
What is your strategy for confronting the fantasy creature Tarrasque in Dungeons & Dragons?

If I was playing the way me and a friend used to run redbox D&D, we'd just walk up to it and start wailing away on it with our 13th level Warriors and their magic swords. It's not like we cheated, we just ran games for each other that quickly let the other gain a lot of stuff fast, but there is still only so much at level 13 can do, even with two +3 swords, so looking back on it now, I'm not sure exactly how we survived half the things we fought, let alone this beast, which I personally consider, given the way it was written, more a primordial force of nature than a monster, a unique entiity that you didn't so much wander upon and fight and kill, as much as unlikelily blunder onto and die horribly, or run away screaming, hoping to never get near it again. We really didn't do it justice.
I am going to report you JPatt to the DnD police (just kidding).
I suppose one could fight these beasts at the 12-13th lvl. Though I assume you would die. I would rather be about level 25 or so.
Even if you kill one most GM's make the beast reincarnate.
Tactics for killing one include: knowing your strengths/weaknesses, using your strengths, using your brain to figure a way to maim, hurt, slow, ect... It.
