Sure I want to play but my percent of participation is still low so I was thinking that I need to increase it before joining the group.Is this way of doing correct? Please let me know. I want to see my character in action as soon as possible.

In AD&D you do NOT need any activity level rating. Read the current Game here: Source 9 and then reply in the Party Thread with your Character: Source 1 - you should do so regularly or the Players will think your Character left the game.
