Charter schools are evil!
Now that it's a Democrat in office, apparently our education system is in ruins. George W. Bush, on his way out, touted certain gains on the education front. Obama, on his way in, is saying our educational system is in horrible shape. So, which is it? That's the focus on today's March to Socialism update! Ref. Source 6
There are those in the USA, who fear that if we take the education system out of the Governments hands, then we are doing some injustice to the Children. I on the other hand believe more competition and choice is a good thing.
Parents should have the right to say no to a failing government system, if they want to, and not be forced to bow to a system that chooses to teach hegemony in thought and actions rather then creativity and initiative.
Glen Beck use of hyperbole was an effective way of stating that we are slipping slowly into socialism.
I agree with you dbackers just look at the mess our schools are in both the USA and Canada. Changed is needed and badly.
I just wish one could transfer the school tax to the school of your choice. Catholics can in Ontario the rest of the groups were asleep at the wheel and missed out on that opportunity.
Education Secretary Arne Duncan Pushes to Aggressively Expand Charter Schools While Admitting Problems
The Obama administration has made opening more charter schools one of its top priorities in its plans to improve the nation's education system. On Monday, Education Secretary Arne Duncan spoke at the annual gathering of the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools in Washington, DC. His address came on the heels of a new Stanford University report that found that, on average, students in charter schools were not faring as well as students in traditional public schools. Ref. I hope that we can do something to change the amount of money that our public schools get from the government. I do not understand why the first thing they cut seems to be education. We need to teach our children well. I would hope if they can not fix this then we do get to privatize our schools and make then even better.
Study: Charter Schools Increasing Racial Segregation in Classrooms
Encouraged by the Obama administration, efforts to expand the number of charter schools are being organized around the country. But concerns are being raised about the system. We speak to UCLA's Civil Rights Project co-director Gary Orfield about a new study that suggests charter school growth is increasing classroom segregation. Ref. Source 2
