Man Tried To Murder Two School Children

We have SO MANY of these mentally sick people out there that safety is my number one concern in this country.

international QUOTE
Osmond Baboolal, who was 13 years old when he saw his family killed by the Dole Chadee gang, went to court yesterday charged with the attempted murder of two schoolchildren.

Baboolal, 29, was later ordered taken to the St Ann's Hospital. The decision was made after an appeal by his lawyers, who asked that he be taken to a place run by professionals, not the police.

Baboolal was not called upon to plead to the indictable charges when he appeared before Senior Magistrate Indrani Cedeno in the Princes Town Magistrates" Court.

It was alleged that he attempted to murder Brandon Pahalad and Shereena Mohammed along the Guaracara/ Tabaquite Road, Williamsville, on Tuesday.

Police prosecutor Zamsheed Mohammed called the alleged act 'senseless".

He said, "The circumstances are alarming. These children were awaiting transportation around 7.20 a.m. In the vicinity of their homes. The alleged accused walked up to these innocent children and started chopping. He is dangerous," Mohammed said.

"The children were endeavouring to obtain education when their lives were threatened. When this happens it has reached crisis proportions."

Shereena Mohammed was chopped in the head and Pahalad on the right ear.

Sgt Zamsheed Mohammed said the 14-year-old girl was still at the Port of Spain General Hospital in a 'serious but stable condition". Pahalad, 12, was discharged, he said.
