LDS Relief Society Christmas Dinner Ideas

I am the Home, Personal and Enrichment leader for my branch and we are having our annual Christmas Dinner next saturday. I do not want that the sisters just sit down and eat during the whole evening but to touch their hearts somehow about the truly meaning of Christmas. So far, I thought in two ideas:

1) I told the sisters in advance to think in someone who is need and try to help them specifically in something they need and then we all are going to share those experiences before dinner.

2) Game: I will have a bag full of questions about Christmas, some will be scriptural, some will be fun like 'Sing your favourite Christmas Carol' and things like that, other questions will be about service and the person has to answer based on the statement what they plan to do about it.

Now, the help I need is MORE IDEAS! specially some that can touch the sister's hearts. Do you know any good activities I can use?. smile.gif

Music always touches my heart in the strongest way. Do you have women or young women in your ward with really beautiful voices? There are a lot of powerful songs that could touch your sisters' hearts, and beautiful harmony only enhances that power to reach our spirits.

Hi, When I was RSP a few years ago, we had 2 sisters talk about what it would have been like for Mary 'as a woman'. One sister wrote a piece similar to a diary entry about how Mary possibly would have been feeling to be carrying the son of God and about the journey to Bethlehem and then another sister carried on from there talking about how she would have felt to become a mother for the first time, but more particularly the mother of Christ. She finished with some beautiful scriptures that she chose about Christ. It was hard because we do not worship Mary, yet we are still 'allowed' to empathise with her as a woman. It was very spiritual and followed by a solo of Silent Night, which finished the evening beautifully. Hope your evening goes well.

I planned this activity over and over and over....smile.gif Thanks for all the suggestions! smile.gif I'm actually using both of them!
I will have an ice breaker game in the begining called 'What nobody knows about me!" (I invented it) Sisters will write one thing that most sisters do not know about them and put it on a bag, then we will read some and the sisters will have to guess who is the person.
Later on, I'm having the sisters to share their experiences about what good deed they have done for the week (I asked them this in advance). Also because it is a cultural night and the sisters are bringing foods of their heritage, I'm having them to explain their dishes and where they come from before dinner. Then we will have dinner and when we are done, we will have a Christmas mystery bag game (they have to pick one paper and they have to do what is being asked: can be sing their favourite carol, imitate Santa Claus or something spiritual).
Then we move on to the Spiritual part where I will use the suggestion the great suggestion of Happychick, two sisters we will give mini-talks, one about Mary journey to Bethelem and another about how Mary must have felt becoming a first time mom, and the mother of the Savior. The night will ended up with a duet of myself and another sister and we will sing 'With wondering awe' in English, Spanish and German. smile.gif
We have souvenirs for the sisters in the end. All the tables will be decorated with candles. How is it sound?.

Hey there, look I know I might be a lil young yet laugh.gif, but maybe you should ask each to put thier self in your shoes and come up with idea, and then vote on them between the sisters, or even not with them. Maybe ask some friends to pick the ones they would like to experience and go with that one, or maybe mix the 2 or 3 best ones...just and idea, hope it helps... oops it's over already..sorry aboutt aht I just joined and still am learning how these things work...
