Title: Rainfall/flooding
Comments: One has to wonder why this surprise regarding the excessive flooding on the island. We pride ourselves as being 'educated' yet- over the years we have allowed developers and greedy politicians to turn a blind eye to the destruction of natural vegetation, land formations and water courses. We have 'qualified engineers' 'qualified environmentalists', 'qualified land developers'. 'qualified inspectors'. Yet NONE have been able to stop this ongoing rape of the island's natural defence to flooding, hurricanes.
We will soon face 'starvation'. This has nothing to do with hard working men and women of island- but all to do with the 'educated' blinded by greed, money, power, corruption and envy.

Title: PM touring the flooded areas
Comments: The announcement that the Prime Minister is going to take a trip around the flooded areas is late in coming .I suppose he was hoping the problem will subside and it will all be forgotten. He should have been touring the affected areas days ago. Typical of what goes on here in our politics.

Title: Local flooding
Comments: According to the world's leading meteorologists, there are much more floods and whether havoc in the pipeline because of global warming. In the light of what is happening here now with regards to local flooding, my advise to the government is to shelf all plans for the building of new roads, especially roads in areas which are liable to be flooded. The money allocated for these projects should now be spent on dredging and widening our rivers, making new water canals for channeling water away from inhabited areas, repairing and maintaining present roads in a proper manner. The writing of future flooding problems on this island is now clearly written on the wall. It pointless blaming others for such disasters when no preventable measures for such unexpected and sudden event were in place.
How can flooding still be a constant problem in a country with so much money? We have money to build this or that and yet we cannot direct water into the correct water courses? We cannot afford a few trucks and machinery to clear the rivers or create some more rivers / dikes to deal with water woes?
Stop throwing all those plastic bottles in the drains and dumping your trash in the rivers and the flooding will stop.
