Trinidad & Tobago Budget 2018 - 2019

I did not have a chance to see the budget but I did pick up the aftermath. I can't say there is anything that I am pleased about in it. Here are some key points, feel free to bring up more if you like:

1. I do not agree with closing Petrotrin. I can agree with restructuring but closing down this country's ability to refine its own crude is ridiculous. Why should the whole nation pay for the lack of competence from years of mishandling money and corruption?

2. Raising gas by $1 is a license for everyone to raise prices. If the government thinks that by not touching diesel they will negate this effect, then they are wrong.

3. How does giving more money to the disabled help if families are being assessed as above the poverty line to get it? Disabilities should not be about your income - the government is very ignorant of the cost of therapy and taking care of special needs children. They do not even have adequate schooling or services.

Budget Tobago and Trinidad

All I can say is it looks scary. I do not expect things to get easier for those already desperately in need of help in this country.
