Virginia Christian Leaders Urge State Officials to Cut Planned Parenthood Funds
Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- Dozens of Christian pastors and religious leaders signed a new petition to the state legislature and top state officials asking them to end state funding for the Planned Parenthood abortion business. The petition also went to the state's governor, lieutenant governor and attorney general.
Rev. Pat Robertson and Rev. Jonathan Falwell joined the other pastors and clergy who signed the petition sponsored by the Virginia Christian Alliance.
The petition said state taxpayer funds should no go to an abortion business and it accuses Planned Parenthood of "Unethical, immoral and racist practices." The pastors also cited a quotation from the 1939 book written by Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood, supporting eugenics.
Republicans Gov. Bob McDonnell, Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling and Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli, all pro-life, were asked to help stop the funding.
Rev. Joe Ellison, vice president of the Council on Biblical Principles, also joined the call. Ref. Source 3

Bible Makes it Clear: Women Have a Right to Choose... Life Over Abortion
by Alveda King
Does a woman have a right to choose? Yes. Absolutely Yes! A woman does have a right to choose, but choose what. God gave us free will and we can choose whatever we want. But we ought to choose from among good, not evil choices. Because as God said:
"Here, then, I have today set before you life and prosperity, death and doom."
If you obey the commandments of the LORD, your God, which I enjoin on you today, loving him, and walking in his ways, and keeping his commandments, statutes and decrees, you will live and grow numerous, and the LORD, your God, will bless you in the land you are entering to occupy.
If, however, you turn away your hearts and will not listen, but are led astray and adore and serve other gods,
I tell you now that you will certainly perish; you will not have a long life on the land which you are crossing the Jordan to enter and occupy.
I call heaven and earth today to witness against you: I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. Choose life, then, that you and your descendants may live" Deuteronomy 30:15-19 Ref. Source 3
Sales of New Bible Help Planned Parenthood-Funding Komen
The sign might as well read, "Buy a Bible and support abortion!"
In the latest twist of commercialism invading Christianity, now breast cancer pink has merged with the Word of God. The Susan G. Komen Foundation, who as recently as last week was handing out cash to the nation's number one abortion provider, makes the latest thematic Bible stand out on retailers" shelves across the nation. WalMart.com describes it this way:
"The Here's Hope Breast Cancer Bible is a reminder that God has not forgotten you, a friend, or loved one who has been impacted by breast cancer. Not only will you find encouragement and inspiration through testimonies from breast cancer survivors but more importantly you"ll encounter God's life-sustaining words for you."
Of course there's a big problem with this Bible. While the text of the original canon inside is true, approximately 5% the purchase will go to Komen who, last year manages to give over half a million dollars to the abortion provider Planned Parenthood. Ref. Source 4
Christians: You Are Needed to Battle the Culture of Death
Ronald Reagan once said, "Freedom prospers when religion is vibrant and the rule of law under God is acknowledged." What powerful words for us to consider as we confront the Culture of Death and its poisonous impact upon our world.
We gaze out and see religious freedom under attack throughout the world while promoters of the Gospel are vilified. Instead of encouraging citizens to live their lives acknowledging the rule of law under God, many governments inaugurate legislation to the contrary. Government officials choose to threaten citizens for striving to live under God. Although he was a secular leader, I believe Ronald Reagan understood the risk of losing 'true freedom." He understood the cost, consequence and ultimate outcome, as well as the difficulty of reclaiming it. I also believe he understood the possibilities of greatness for a nation whose citizens choose lives of authentic religious virtue. Ref. Source 6
As far as I"m aware of the Bible dose not directly address the issue of purposely induced abortion. Jehovah God dose however place a high value on the life growing inside a mother's womb, and that life is precious in his eyes.
Didn't they give herbs or some kind of potion back in those times that would induce an abortion or some kind of early labor? Isn't there a story like this in the Bible?
