Women have come along way but do they need to be in the middle of battle, I don't think so. Men are likely to disobey orders or go out of their way and risk their men's lives for the sake of a woman. Then you have women's monthly issues which can be nasty when you're dug in. They can be in the military but I wouldn't put a women in ground combat.

I am not so sure about women being in a combat role. Yeah they can handle pressure and stress better but they also can freeze up more than a man. It is something that can be debated long and hard from both sides. One does not know what they are going to be like in a combat situation until they are in it. This is where training comes in. I believe that in a lot of cases a guy will put himself in more danger to save a fellow female soldier than he would to save a fellow male soldier. I am not saying they will not take risks because we all know they will. I think in a role that does not see a lot of front line fighting a women should be fine as a member of that squad.
My biggest concern is a female being captured. I guess it is horrific either way, but it would pain me more to know the enemy had my daughter. Do they send females on the ground behind enemy lines in modern warfare?

As far as I know they do not send females behind enemy lines. I think the POW issue with a female soldier always sits in peoples mind but a properly trained soldier is going to be easier to handle being a pow than a female civilian taken and held captive. Just my opinion there.
