Log Cabin Investment

Normally I don't think about these things being the conservative I am, however the way of the world is giving me thoughts about buying a log cabin. Reason is having a second home far from my current location stocked with necessities. It can also act as a retreat. Thoughts from anyone that has ALREADY done this will be appreciated.
