Do not burst a blood vessel thinking about it, but is life more than fetes, partying and beaches?

I also like how we live together. I never seen a place where people of various religious, socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds live together in harmony.

Even Desmond Tutu when he visited Trinindad was amazed at how live.

Someone said that life is more than fetes and rum in the sun or something to that effect. My question is what more can you want?

Ah...a Trini to the bone. laugh.gif No wonder you want to return home.

Well I think a lot of folks are cool about living day by day from fete to fete and drinking until they pass out and you know what? Like I always say to each its own but you know, other folks are more interested and concerned about quality of life, tackling the ridiculous crime situation, be able to afford a house and the list goes on. For me, those are pressing matters, the rest is just too basic minded.

Christmas now there is no place like Trinidad for Christmas family friends even if you have little money Christmas is great the food the painting of the house, the curtains hanging and planting the plants to make the house beautiful.dress all the kids up to go to church and going visiting family and friends and eating to much I love Trinidad. Florida Christmas can compare to the warmth of a Trini Christmas.

Comments: Trinidad is a lovely place. Yes, there is crime, but that is anywhere you go. Trinidad has some of the most friendly people I have ever met - some of my best friends are from this lovely island - the scenery is awesome, the culture is eye opening and the food is out of this world. I lived in Trinidad for 5 months and never enjoyed a place as much as I did there. Tobago is cool too - very laid back, just during the week there isn't much of a nite life, otherwise Tobago is something to experience also.

Triniterry the "crime is everywhere" comment is nonsense and doesn't make things easier because in the end if is such a lovely place why don't you (and so many others) move permanently here? Now go ahead and list your excuses....

Comments: I lived in Trinidad for four and half years. It was my decision to move there, my husband is a Trinidadian who still has his umbilical cord down there. I can now say, in retrospect, that I was very naive in thinking life in Trinidad would be "sweet" as they say. Cost of living, attitude towards the really important aspects of everyday life, crime, and even the people and their "friendliness" are really sore spots. The liming and partying gets tiresome, unless you are someone who doesn't require a certain degree of intellectual stimulation, not to mention the smallness and narrow mindedness of the "callaloo" pot of people...never witnessed such a racial set of people in my life, considering the mixtures and education.
All in all, it was an experience that taught me a lot, and I don't regret it, however, my husband wants to move back there again when he finishes school and I have already made up my mind we will either divorce or be long distance.
It's very sad that a country with so much potential, which could be the Switzerland of the tropics, has reduced itself to what is it. With such a small population and the resources it can boast, I kept wondering what the excuses were. Vagrants seem to multiply at the speed of light, the filth and the pollution are disgusting at best, the lack of police efficiency in solving murders and crimes, the constant rising cost of living...the list goes on.
I really don't think America is the best there is out there, I am still looking at other places to possibly move to in the future, Ecuador and Panama seem to be some of the best, I don't understand how Trinidad isn't even remotely close to making any of the lists.
