Up-and-coming scientist Sergio Amancio is looking for more reliable methods of connecting materials. This is of great importance, especially in aviation, because dangerous cracks often start at joints. Amancio leads a team of young scientists at the research center in the northern German town of Geesthacht, who are investigating the material characteristics of interfaces using high-tech materials.
