Screaming At Someone With Special Needs

Comments: Is it EVER a good thing to yell and/or scream, especially with profanities at people with any sort of mental illness? Being a sufferer of Bipolar myself, and having to deal with a person who does just that, not only towards me, but others in our group home setting, I say no. The screaming and yelling only feeds the fires of peoples insecurities and makes them more and more on the defensive, and not just with the person doing the yelling, but with everyone. It can make a marginally docile person into a raging bull. Thoughts...Anyone?

Needs Special Someone Screaming

Greywolf, screaming profanities it is NEVER acceptable no matter the setting. I assume you're referring to one of the people that helps out in the group? If so, why doesn't the group get together, complain and get the person fired?

As a mother of special needs children, I can tell you it can be very frustrating and at times you feel like you're going insane. Unfortunately, within the special needs organizations there are many people who have not been trained or are there for the money and when they start realizing how hard it is, they lose all patient and start abusing the patients. This is never acceptable and the person should be removed immediately as far as I am concerned.
