Tatistcoop Introduction

Hello everyone out there! My name is Cooper, I am 25, and I Tattoo for a living. I have joined this site in the hopes of finding some text based roll playing games. I use to play advanced dungeons and dragons since I was little (around 8yrs old). Years back I also played on telnet servers with programed text based worlds that were based around random number generators and hot keys. I was looking to find a similar outlet but this whole forum based gaming is interesting to me. I am willing to try it to see how it goes. I use to have a very good dungeon master and I am use to very involving story lines. As for my participation I will do my best to keep up on the games I choose to play, but I do work for a living (40hrs a week) so time sensitive games would be an issue. I can log in twice a day and not too often more than that. But after 8 O' clock I will be able to be on the forum for a long period of time. Please let me know were to begin. Also any leads to sites I would be able to play on that are like the telnet games of old would be appreciated. Thanks for reading about me, look forward to gaming again.

Here's the FIRST one: If ye be looking to get started with Dungeons & Dragons Play by Post then go AD&D Rules for the Thread that gives you the steps (Check first Post) AD&D here allows you to start participating right away once your character is approved by the Dungeon Master.

Here's the SECOND one: If ye be looking to join 'The World of Medieval' (Custom Play by Post) then thou needest a minimum of 30 Constructive Posts within this here Community. Keep thy level of activity at 75% too, we be needed active adventurers here not those that sit and play with child toys. Get started, select a Board, a Topic and then share thy views until ye have yer 30 Posts under thy belt then return here and request RPGer Status.

This site includes text-based, or forum, or play-by-post (whichever you want to call them) RPGs, among a number of other features and forums of discussion (I recommend checking out the other discussion forums and topics too, you're likely to find a number of things to interest you besides gaming).


Good to see another experienced player. I got D&D Redbox when I was about 15 or so, played AD&D2E a bit when I was about 19 and moved on to other systems.

I played a few MUDs or MUSHes (no telnet) for short periods of time, as one of my favorite computer games was Zork, but couldn't stay in those, not sure why, and got into play by post, plus my real life group of friends and fellow gamers.

Generally, if you can post at least once a day, or at worst, once every 2 days, things ought to be ok, though being able to at least CHECK every day would be optimal. The forum game I'm Party Leader in right now, run by KNtoran, has a turnaround of about 1-2 days, and there are about 6-9 consistent party members in the adventure at any one time.

I'm so glad you asked "where to begin", because I just happen to have the answer for you, and I mean this in all seriousness: read THIS thread FIRST, before ANYTHING else in the RPG section - I wrote it so I feel it covers the minimal basics you need to know, and has links to everything that will be useful to you in the gaming aspect.

Hmm, I haven't been on a MUD type program or chat in years, do they still exist? I'm sure they do - other than doing a search for MUD or MUSH or something, I don't know of any offhand I'm afraid.

Anyway, look forward to you getting used to the site and forums and checking out the game.
